How much “doing nothing” are you planning to do this weekend?

I’m sure we’re all excited about the long weekend (and Easter, for those who celebrate!).

And hopefully... finally... some nicer weather coming to Toronto too!

Long weekends always sound like a break, but if we're being honest, sometimes they end up even busier than a regular work week. Errands, plans, family gatherings, activities, friends.

All great fun things - but still a lot to do.

Today I got inspired to write about how important it is to leave a little space for doing absolutely nothing.

For some very busy people, that might sound like torture.

For others, it might even bring up the question: what does that even mean, doing nothing?

It means just being in the moment of stillness.

Not checking your phone.

Not making a mental list of what's next.

Not multitasking.

Not filling the silence with another task or conversation.

Just being.

And while it feels strange at first, there’s a reason why it matters:

It gives our mind and body a chance to reset and catch up.

It gives us an opportunity to connect with our intuition.

It sparks creativity we usually don't notice when we're busy running around.

And these moments of being in stillness don't have to be very long. You can start somewhere.

If you're someone with a busy mind (I definitely am), one simple thing that helps me is this: When I have my morning coffee, I try to slow down for at least a few sips. No emails, no planning, no scrolling. Just paying attention - the smell, the warmth, the taste, the feeling.

It doesn't have to be drinking coffee - it could be anything where you can anchor into one simple sensation in the body.

Letting a piece of chocolate slowly melt in your mouth and noticing every sensation.

Taking a few slow, deep breaths and feeling the air moving through your body.

And when we go back into the busy doing mode - plans, people, activities - it’s good to pay attention to what we’re filling our time with.

Are you surrounding yourself with people, activities, conversations, and content (what you watch, read, and absorb) that give you energy? Or ones that leave you feeling drained, stressed, and anxious?

This is just another reminder that will never get old: what we surround ourselves with shapes how we feel and our reality.

And those small moments of stillness - when you turn inward and really listen to your heart - they’ll give you the answers. They’ll help you notice where your energy goes, what lifts you up, and what you might need to shift.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead - filled with whatever you need most right now, lots of energy, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate! ❤️🐰🐣
